HAF Club

The Health and Fitness (HAF) Club is a sports CCA that caters not just to obese pupils but also to pupils who are interested to keeping themselves fit and healthy. Pupils in the HAF Club will be exposed to a range of fitness programmes aim at developing their bodies, souls and minds.

The HAF Programme takes place in the daily (for about 30 minutes; and about 2.5 hours a week) before morning assembly in which pupils participate actively in cardiovascular exercises and a variety of games and sports. For instance, a typical HAF programme will look like this: pupils will start off with a few rounds on the running track. This will take only about 15 minutes (depending on the number of rounds—based on periodization principles). Thereafter, they will get into their groups and participate in sports and games such as Frisbee, Netball and Basketball. Apart from these physical activities, pupils are also exposed to good advice on how to keep themselves healthy through a sensible diet and good eating habits.

Football

Football is a popular sport among many pupils as it provides lots of exercise and fun. When pupils play football they learn important values like teamwork, discipline, excellence, friendship and respect. Through football, we also hope to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Train and equip our players with basic skills and principles of the game
  • To inculcate values (sportsmanship, teamwork and discipline)
  • To promote holistic development of our players

Every year, we send our junior and senior school team players to participate in the West Zone Inter-Primary Schools School Tournament. In addition, we also encourage our boys to participate in other competitions and friendly matches with other schools’ football teams throughout the year. Activities such as camps are organized to reinforce values taught during the CCA sessions.

Badminton

Badminton is a sport which can be taken up as a lifelong sport towards achieving a healthy lifestyle. It is our hope that pupils will become more competent in the various badminton skills so that they can enjoy the game till adulthood.

Other than improving the eye-hand coordination and fitness of pupils, it develops in them confidence when they are able to play the game better and values like friendship, respect and discipline. Pupils who are competent in the sport will be selected to represent in Inter-School Badminton Competition.

Sports Club

Sports Club is a new CCA introduced this year to promote sports at participatory level, bringing about enjoyment and enhancement in overall well-being of pupils. These will be done by actively engaging pupils in sports and other health-related activities such as endurance exercises, nutrition & simple fitness tests. Pupils will also be taught rules of games and learn to take up different roles like umpiring of games and coaching of their peers. Through these activities, pupils will also develop respect for rules of sports and their friends.

Netball

Netball provides numerous opportunities for the girls to grow by competing hard and vigorously. Many precious and life-long lessons are acquired along the way. Some of these include sporting values such as fair-play, resilience and team-work and respect are also inculcated.

This year, the school fielded two teams for the West Zone Inter-School Netball Competition will also be taking part in several other friendly games and tournaments throughout the year.
