Character and Citizenship Education
Character & Citizenship Education
Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) is embedded throughout the school experience and is not confined to a single subject or period. While Character and Citizenship Education Form Teacher Guidance Period (CCE FTGP) provides a dedicated space for discussion, reflection, and student voice, and Character and Citizenship Education Mother Tongue Language (CCE MTL) reinforces values through language and culture, CCE is also lived out through VIA, school programmes, daily interactions, and teacher–student relationships. When approached holistically, students experience CCE as part of everyday learning and life, leading to deeper understanding and meaningful application of values.
Philosophy
The school believes that it is not only important to develop in pupils a strong moral fibre grounded on sound values but they must also be equipped with the competencies to enable them to live out their beliefs. As the hardware must be complemented by the heartware, to develop in pupils sound character and a strong sense of citizenry, pupils must not only be taught the right values, attitudes and competencies but the school must also provide a conducive environment for these to be caught.
Driven by this belief, the school adopts a tiered approach that seeks to enable pupils to Know the right values and attitudes, provide the platforms to engage in hands-on activities (Do) and practice those values and attitudes and develop the desired competencies for the pupils to Become the individuals who have internalized those desired values and attitudes. Platforms are provided also for these pupils to live out their beliefs and influence their peers to be the individuals with the desired values, attitudes and competencies.

National Education (NE)
NE in Dazhong Primary School aims to nurture students who understand Singapore’s story, value our shared identity, and feel a sense of responsibility towards the nation. Through age-appropriate learning experiences integrated across the curriculum and school programmes, students develop an appreciation of Singapore’s challenges and strengths, cultivate social cohesion, and learn the importance of resilience, care for others, and contributing to the common good. These experiences help students grow as informed, caring, and committed citizens of Singapore.
Social Studies (SS)
SS in Dazhong Primary School helps students understand Singapore and the world by exploring how people, communities, and societies interact and make decisions. Through inquiry, discussion, and real-life contexts, students examine social issues, consider multiple perspectives, and develop critical and responsible decision-making skills. These learning experiences nurture informed, thoughtful students who are able to relate classroom learning to everyday life and contribute meaningfully to society.
Values-in-Action (VIA)

Sexuality Education (Growing Years)
Sexuality Education (SEd) in schools aims to enable students to understand the physiological, social and emotional changes they experience as they mature, develop healthy and rewarding relationships with others, including those with members of the opposite sex, and make wise, informed and responsible decisions on sexuality matters. SEd is premised on the importance of the family as the basic unit of society. This means encouraging healthy, heterosexual marriages and stable nuclear family units with extended family support. The teaching and learning of SEd is based on respect for the values and beliefs of the different ethnic and religious communities in Singapore on sexuality issues.
